The tape uses either rubber or acrylic adhesive on it and the foam is made from vinyl, urethane, acrylic or polyethylene.
 
Surface Protection Tapes - Generally this tape will be used in industries where the appearance of the way in which an object functions needs to be improved. The tape will be used to mask, protect or modify the surface of the object. It comes in a number of different widths and is flexible enough that it can conform to the surface of the object to which it has been applied.
 
Packaging Tapes - For those who want to ensure that any item they send to another destination reaches there in the same condition it left them they should use this tape for securing the item in its packaging. Like all 3M tape products the adhesive properties of this tape are very strong but can easily be removed from the packaging when it reaches its final destination.
