According to the statistics made by China Food & Packaging Industry Association among 991 enterprises, by November 2008, the industrial sales output has hit 129.63 billion RMB, up by 27.8% year on year.
The total export-import volume is up to 4.412 billion U.S. dollars with year-on-year growth 39.84%, in which the import volume takes up 2.923 billion U.S. dollars up by 39.03%, and export volume 1.509 billion U.S. dollars increased by 41.44% compared with the same period of the previous year.
The trade deficit reaches 1.393 billion U.S. dollars. So, the food & packaging industry maintains high growth though facing the financial crisis.
The above mentioned are attributed to the characteristics of this industry itself. Food and packaging machinery industry is a basic segment. Thus, comparatively speaking, it is relatively stable and not so sensitive to policies and macro-environments. Looking back to the development over the past 20 years, this industry has been progressing sustainably without any obvious fluctuation.
Moreover, influenced by the financial crisis, overseas enterprises in food segment pay more attention to the cost. After decades of development, the gap between China food and packaging machinery industry and these top ones abroad has been narrowed.
As a result, lots of foreign companies are tend to replace these expensive equipments from developed countries by Chinese inexpensive ones. In 2008, either the volume or growth rate of export is higher than that of 2007.
In 2009, according to the interviews, companies in food and packaging industry are positive towards the future of this segment. And it is predicted that this segment will keep a two-digit growth and become the only one that keeps high growth in OEM industries.
Currently, China food & packaging machinery industry is still not very high in terms of automation level.
And these equipments equipped with controllers takes up less than 10% of the total. Therefore, automation in this industry still boasts a larger room for development. |
